Not so much run-and-gun as run-and-slash, but you do get guns sometimes.
Known in the US as Rush'n Attack, Green Beret is a platform game of sorts, with the goal being to run from left to right, killing anyone in your path with your knife. Certain enemies have different characteristics: some have guns and can climb ladders, others will jump at you when near, and some will drop guns for you to use. The action is fast but enemies follow a set pattern, so learning the patterns is key to success.
The Speccy may not have hardware sprites and background layers, but it can still deliver a fast action game with detailed graphics. Sure, nowadays you could just play the original on MAME, or the NES port, but this still plays well, and you might find yourself trying again and again to make it through.
